Turtles are apparently dripping with disease!
A turtle *could* be infected salmonella, which could be bad if your kid is found of popping the turtle in his mouth, or doesn’t wash his hands after playing with it. Turtle sellers are trying to disinfect them, but of course that could lead to a resistant strain of salmonella.
Wash your hands, kids!

Not very scary at all, actually. It sounds playful and fun. For shame, NYTimes, this will hardly get people running around in a panic.
Pretty low. If you bring MRSA home and get it on your pet, the pet can act as a petri dish and breed it, and then give it back to you. However, even if you did this, there’s only a 2% chance you would actually get infected.
